Gov’t seized and leaders arrested by military in Sudan Coup

Sudan is experiencing a military coup, with the military dissolving civilian control, arresting political leaders, and declaring a state of emergency.

Political infighting has been blamed by the coup leader, Gen Abdel Fattah Burhan.

Protesters have flocked to the streets of Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, and gunfire has been reported.

Since long-time ruler Omar al-Bashir was deposed and a transitional government established two years ago, military and civilian authorities have been at conflict.

Abdallah Hamdok, the Prime Minister, is said to have been arrested in Sudan Coup.

In the meantime, the airport in Khartoum is closed, and international flights have been canceled.
